What a wind project asks of a warehouse

The blades and the tower sections get all the attention, and they are usually moved by specialists on their own schedule. The part that quietly decides whether the crane turns up to a finished foundation is everything else: the thousands of components that have to be complete, on site, and in the right order on the day.

A crane day is the deadline

Mobilising a crawler crane is expensive and booked far ahead. If one box of fasteners or one control cabinet is missing, the day is lost and the cost of that dwarfs anything the warehouse saved. Completeness beats speed here.

Hundreds of line items, many suppliers

Fasteners, castings, cabinets, cable drums, tooling, lubricants and spares arrive separately from suppliers across Europe and Asia on lead times that do not line up. Someone has to hold them until the set is complete.

Heavy, and not all of it racks

Castings and cable drums need floor space and the right handling equipment, while the small parts belong on pallets in racking. One project usually needs both in the same building.

Consolidated, then released as a set

We hold the scope in Zeebrugge, Liège and Hull, check it in against the project bill of materials, and release it to site on our own fleet when the site is ready rather than when the supplier shipped.

The parts that are not the blade still decide whether the crane day happens.

An erection date depends on hundreds of components arriving together: fasteners, castings, cabinets, cable, tooling and spares, most of it heavy, palletised and coming from different suppliers on different lead times. Missing one item costs a crane day.
We consolidate those parts in Zeebrugge, Liège and Hull, hold them until the site is ready, and release them to site as a set on our own fleet.
